Back Boléro successful in the BMW Royal Langkawi International Regatta 2005 07-03-2005 Langkawi Malaysia On Monday 28 February, a "practice" race was sailed and true fully not with enough crew, 6 instead of the usual 14! Hardly any wind, that's why all the boat handling went fine and even the spinnaker gype went well! Tuesday and Wednesday there was too less wind for Boléro and after an exasperating slowly spinnaker track to the finish, we won the first 3rd prize by very tactically sailing! Thursday it was a lay-day, which totally utilized after a very successful evening in the Four Season Resort where the rain came just in time, after a delicious and fabulous buffet, it was pouring cats and dogs! Compliments to the waiters, they came running with towels and umbrellas to be a help for their soaked guests. Friday and Saturday, it was "Boléro weather": an average of 20 knots of wind! Both days the race committee had chosen for an Olympic triangle. It was really what Boléro and her crew like to sail. And in spite of that the spinnaker in its bag almost fell into the water and some other little mistakes, we won nevertheless several prizes as mentioned in the first line. With a real "YES" feeling, sailed accident-free, we are looking back at a great successful event and certainly repeatable.
