Back Arrival in Malé/Maldives 2007-02-22 Boléro arrived in Malé/Maldives by ed 2007/02/22 09:54:40 Yeah, we arrived, after a super sail from Phuket(departure date 13th at 09.00),early this morning at 04.00 in front of Male, there we had to wait until daylight to enter the atoll. Many high buildings and the airport is on another little island, even the rubbish is on a separate island. Totally different than the beautifully approach of Langakwi! The motor ran for 18 hours, only the second day, the rest of our crossing, sailing ....breaking the records, once 24 hours...204nm. The wind blew between 1.5 and 27 knots true wind.....especially the last day was the cream upon the cake and I even did not gain weight from it :) Most of the day average 10 knots per hour SOG, beautiful seas and waves. We sailed 1510nm in 8 days and 21 hours (thai time) We even caught a nice tuna fish...later on that day of course shasimi and a nice glass of pinot grigio. Nothing broke (knock on wood, please), the watermaker never made such good water and the engine sounded like a happy cat! Deckwash-pump is working well. Rolf, you were right, the winding was the other way around, so that problem had been solved in Phuket by a very handy engineer,2 hours and 80 ringit. The salt made our teak deck perfect yellowish white, like new! We enjoyed the bubbles, which we got from one of our Langkawi friends, when we dropped anchor!
